Nutritional Assessment

Each
of us is a unique person with distinctive fingerprints and DNA, so
it is easy to understand that our nutritional needs also vary from one
person to another, even in the same family. Remember the nursery
rhyme about Jack Sprat...? Our health needs and reactions
vary from one person to another, even in the same family. These
differences help to explain why foods, medications, and environmental
factors interact so differently with each person.
Many people are
interested in using nutrition and other effective affordable
approaches to regain or maintain their health at an optimal level. Our
bodies, like owning a car, require attention. You can
choose to get regular check ups and practice other forms of
preventative care or wait until something neglected requires
more serious and expensive repair. If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms
please consider, knowing exactly what your nutritional needs
might really mean or save you?
Quit Feeling Sick and Tired!
-
Low energy
-
Being overweight
-
Catching
frequent colds
-
Trying diets that don't work
-
Not knowing which nutritional supplements to
take, or how much!
Our Nutritional
Assessment links
your food and supplements to
possible nutrient imbalances, either too much (toxicities) or
too little (deficiencies), and helps you determine what foods to
add, nutritional supplements to take, or when
laboratory testing for nutritional balance is an important next
step.
|
A
balanced diet, effective nutritional supplementation, and
detoxification, provide the human body with what it needs
to produce energy and increased well-being.
|
Our nutritional
assessment is a tool that can be used to identify people at risk of
malnutrition. This program has one of our nurses contact you in the
privacy of your own home. You are asked questions about how much
fruit, vegetables, meat, and dairy that you eat. The types of foods
you eat and the quantity are compared to national guidelines set by the
government for people to remain healthy. From this you are given
a customized report including your questions and answers of suggestions for
adding missing nutrients to your meal plan both with suggestions for various
food groups and with dietary/nutritional/sport supplements.

|
Many research studies
have shown that a person who is malnourished (nutritionally depleted) when
admitted to hospital tends to have a longer hospital stay, experiences
more complications, and has a greater risk of morbidity and mortality
than a well nourished person with the same illness whose nutritional
state is adequate. This is especially true for children and the
elderly.
By identifying patients who are
malnourished or at risk of malnutrition early it is often possible to
provide adequate and immediate nutritional support to prevent further
deterioration.
Note - If you

testing and a doctors written recommendation for reimbursement of
