Dr. Smith attended the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Medicine's combined B.A./M.D program. She completed her residency at the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Medicine, and was a Chief Resident at her training program. She then completed her Fellowship at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center in Oklahoma City. She was drawn to this fellowship program due to its affiliation with the Harold Hamm Diabetes Center. She was able to work on multiple clinical trials pertaining to newer diabetes medications while in fellowship.
Dr. Smith is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and The American Board of Endocrinology, Diabetes, & Metabolism. Her professional memberships include; The Endocrine Society, The American Diabetes Association, and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists.
She has a passion for educating others about endocrine dysfunction. She continues to work with multiple pharmaceutical companies to help educate physicians on new diabetes treatment options. She also plans to conduct new pharmaceutical drug trials at our office.
Dr. Smith chose endocrinology because of its complexity and her passion for human physiology. She enjoys being challenged to "think outside the box" if needed to help patients. She is excited to be providing patients with multiple new diabetes, thyroid, and weight loss treatment options. She strives to stay up to date with all new treatment options and technology available to help her patients living with endocrine disorders. Dr. Smith describes herself as intense, compassionate, and sincere.
In her spare time, she listens to biographies and self-improvement books on audible. Her favorite activities include running and traveling. She wants to become fluent in Spanish and take piano lessons in the near future. She strives to be kind to others and surrounding herself with people who make her laugh every day.
