No, not automatically. You may bring your medical history or request records using our Medical Record Release Form.

7. Do I need to bring my medical history?
Yes, if possible. If not, we can assist you in requesting records from previous providers.

8. Is hormone replacement therapy (HRT) covered by insurance?
Many forms of HRT are covered, but pellets and select therapies may not be. Coverage depends on your specific plan.

9. Is HRT safe for women?
Yes, most forms are safe. We avoid synthetic progestins and oral estrogens due to potential side effects. Each regimen is customized for the patient.

10. Does HRT cause breast cancer?
Synthetic progestins are linked to an increased risk. Estrogen alone, natural progesterone, testosterone, and DHEA are not associated with increased risk. We tailor each treatment with safety as a priority.

11. What hormones are safe for women?
Estrogen, natural progesterone, testosterone, and DHEA—the same hormones naturally produced by the ovaries—are considered safe when properly prescribed.

12. Do women need testosterone?
Yes. Testosterone plays a vital role in women’s health. As hormone levels decline with age, replacement can help support energy, mood, and metabolic health.

13. Does HRT cause weight gain in women?
When properly prescribed, HRT is often associated with weight loss. Avoiding synthetic hormones and oral estrogens helps optimize results.

14. Why is testosterone prescribed for men?
Testosterone supports muscle mass, bone strength, cognitive function, fat reduction, and metabolic health. It also helps prevent or manage type 2 diabetes.

15. Is testosterone safe for men?
Testosterone is generally safe with proper monitoring. We perform thorough evaluations, including lab tests and lifestyle assessments. Side effects, such as increased hemoglobin or estrogen levels, are monitored to minimize risk.

16. Why should men come to Optimal Health Associates?
Our clinic offers comprehensive care, not just testosterone prescriptions. We partner with men to improve overall health, fitness, and quality of life through personalized care plans.
